Full Grain Leather
At Ayla we only work with full grain leather. Full grain refers to the strongest and most durable part of the hide, which is just below the hair. It has not been sanded or buffed away to look more ‘uniform’ which means it displays the more natural characteristics.

Hand Stitching
I am an artisan in love with the traditions, heritage, tools and artistry of a craft that goes back centuries. I stitch by hand for the aesthetics and durability that only hand stitching can achieve. A single thread with needles attached at either end is used to stitch a hand stitched item.

Thread
Ayla prides itself by using the best quality materials to ensure longevity of our products. Waxed cotton thread is used for hand-sewing leather. The thread has a corded continuous polyester filament that runs through the centre of the thread and is encapsulated by pure cotton that is then waxed.
